What Will I Learn?

You’ll cover everything needed to become a confident instructor, including:

  • Pilates fundamentals (history, anatomy, breathing, and movement principles).
  • Matwork and Reformer exercises, including modern variations.
  • Teaching techniques (cuing, layering, modifications, and class planning).
  • Working with special populations (prenatal, postnatal, and injury management).
  • Practical tools (customer service, music selection, and props).

What Makes This Course Unique?

This is a small-group, in-person training program, offering direct, personalised instruction from Casey, owner and founder of Pilates Barre & Movement. You’ll receive individualised attention and mentorship in a supportive and interactive learning environment.

How much does the course cost?

  • Full Course (Matwork & Reformer): $4,200
  • RPL Students (Matwork OR Reformer only): $2000
  • A $500 deposit is required at enrolment.

Course Format & Attendance

  • 8 face-to-face sessions or Zoom sessions (4 weekends)
  • Attendance: 100% required to complete the course

  • All equipment is provided at the studio
  • Bring a notepad and stationery
  • Access to a Reformer and mat at home is helpful, but not required

What is required to complete my certification?

To earn your certification, you must complete:

  • 20 hours of class observation (10 hours for Matwork and 10 for Reformer).
  • 20 hours of class participation (10 hours for Matwork and 10 for Reformer).
  • 40 hours of practice teaching (20 hours for Matwork and 20 for Reformer).
  • All exams, assignments, and theory quizzes.

Certification & Accreditation

  • Certificate: Awarded upon successful completion of all assessments, practical hours, exams, and full payment
  • Accreditation: Physical Activity Australia, 6 PDP points

Mat & Reformer Pilates Certification FAQ’s

Do I need to attend every in-person course day?

Participants are required to attend at least 100% of the scheduled in-studio or Zoom sessions. Failure to meet this attendance requirement may impact your ability to complete the course.

If you miss a session or are unable to attend a scheduled course day, you must arrange a catch-up session.

A $200 fee will apply for each catch-up session. Failure to complete catch-up sessions may impact your ability to fulfill the course requirements and receive certification.

When does the course run?
Over 14 face to face sessions or 14 live zoom sessions if attending remotely.
What equipment will I need?

All equipment will be provided at the studio. Bring a notepad and stationery for notetaking. Access to a Reformer and mat at home is helpful but not required.

What if I’m already certified in Matwork or Reformer Pilates?

If you are already certified in Matwork or Reformer, provide your certificate from a reputable provider to receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

RPL Students only need to complete the missing portion of the course for $2,800.

What happens if I pay late?

A $50 late payment fee will apply for missed payment plan instalments.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes, after successfully completing all assessments, practical hours, and exams, and paying your course fees in full, you’ll receive a Group Matwork and Reformer Pilates Instructor Certification.
What are the prerequisites for the course?

There are no prerequisites—this course is suitable for all levels, from beginners to seasoned Pilates enthusiasts.

Is the course accredited?

Yes, this course is accredited by Physical Activity Australia and is worth 6 PDP points.

Do I need to complete my hours at your studio?
No! You can complete your hours at any studio or even with friends or family.
Does the course cover pre- and postnatal Pilates?
Yes, the course includes training on working with prenatal and postpartum clients.
Do I need government accreditation?
No national or global regulatory body governs Pilates, so this certification is sufficient to start teaching once you have First Aid, CPR, and instructor insurance.
What if the course doesn’t reach minimum numbers?
The course requires a minimum of 5 participants to proceed. If this number is not met, you’ll be notified and can either transfer to new dates or receive a refund.
Does this course mean I will be qualified in Barre?
No, Barre is a separate qualification that requires a Mat Pilates certification as a prerequisite. After this course, I’ll be offering a Barre Instructor Certification over three weekends. Stay tuned for dates and details!

What will I learn?
